About the ladybugs- I experienced that once long ago, entering a canyon glen that was orange with ladybugs- you had to keep your mouth closed, they were on every surface. It was beautiful but also creepy.

Muir Woods - I love that place! And ladybugs are good for your garden. They sell them in containers at the local farmer's market; you should just grab 'em and bring them home!
Sometimes ladybugs swarm around here and they will be in the house for months. Windowsills will be covered and they find all the nooks and crannies to get into. I don't know why they do it. I always feel lucky when I find one in my hair.
they do sort of bite, though
