Cold and Hot

This has been the coldest winter I can remember since we moved here 12 years ago. The past few evenings we've walked on the Coastal Trail, which is much more protected from the wind than the beach is. This recipe for chili has saved us! I know what you're thinking: Why would I ever try a recipe from Linda's blog? Because it's actually Tom's recipe––by that I mean that he made it, and it's great.

p.s. He probably doubled this recipe, and added a square of unsweetened chocolate.

I don't cook much, but I'd like to try this. Cold nights demand chili- and this sounds like a tasty alternative to the Ralph's store brand stuff I usually have. :)

Hahaha. RE: a recipe Linda recommended. :)

Hey, especially since it's got chipotles, has Tom ever tossed in a little chocolate? No, not Hershey's chocolate, but dark, semi-sweet? Kind of like a little mole. Yummmmm, yummm and more yumm. Worry not, you're not actually eating a bowl of chocolate, but it embiggens the taste.

Honest.

Namo, I don't cook much either, as you know. If you and I were roommates, we'd be eating Ralph's. Before Tom, I used to eat canned chili on top of noodles.

Booda: Listen, he did use chocolate! But I added it way down at the bottom as a p.s! Great minds think alike (though actually he used unsweetened).

Hmm, that sounds good. I don't think I've had black-bean chili.

Has it really been that cold in SF? Here it feels like the mildest winter in years. The coldest day feels like today.

Hi, Mary Ann! We put THE GUARD on our Netflix list.

Gina, Actually, Tom used red beans. I think they were kidney beans. But he's used black beans before and they are GREAT.

Monday and Tuesday were REALLY COLD and WINDY--the wind was the thing. Today was milder w/ the rain.

Ah, not much wind here Monday. In fact, we did a big yard clean-up here and I remember it starting out sunny and just a little crisp.

Booda -- "embiggens"!
