Very VERY nice. I just saw some wond'rous brushes on an animation (he painted his parts in PS), but these are way more fun. (And what a cute picture, too!!)
This is actually done in Photoshop. My iMac is too slow for Painter (for the new h20-color brushes). And there are lots of textures you can use (same is true of Painter). Though of course you don't have to use any texture at all.
