Homecoming
Tom picked me up at the airport yesterday evening. Exhausted, I couldn't believe how great the air felt. It smelled like eucalyptus, too, even in the parking lot. We drove northwest. The sun was setting; the sky was orange.
"Where would you like to go?" Tom asked.
"Home."
Suddenly, on the horizon I saw the cobalt blue lights of Nordstrom Rack. "Wait! Turn!"
I tried on 20 or 30 pairs of shoes. Finally, finally, I was back in my element. I was so euphoric that I whipped out my camera and planned a shoe contest on the spot. But after shooting the 30th pair, I keeled over and had to be carried back to the car. It was fun while it lasted, though, and a great homecoming. My favorite pair was the 4th pair, 2nd row. (Green.)
