Phone Call

My phone rings. It's 6:32 a.m. I see Mom's face on the panel. Should I answer? It could be an emergency.

Me: Hello?

Mom: Hi, Hon! How are you?

Me: Oh, fine, Mom! ... It's a little early ... How are you?

Mom: I'm curious. Do you know where the Mojave Desert is?

I love this post. First, the hat is great (did you send her that?). Second, I often call -- or email -- people with questions like this (as all of you know). Linda, I'm sorry it's so hard. (Curious: did you know the answer?!!)

My parents are moving to my hometown in May so this post about your mom struck a chord. Plus its funny. Plus I really like your site and now have pulled it to my desktop to follow along with my other favorites. Thanks for the nice comment you left about my site, btw!

Her car got driven across it in September.

The "Hi, hon!" remark makes me think of my mom on the phone. The greeting makes me thinkSee? She's the same person she was twenty years ago! The followup is a coin toss. It may be something normal. (See? See?) It may be something neurotic or strange (Uh oh...)
p.s. I like the hat too.

Great hat. I can drive to the Mojave Desert from here, but something about the name sounds forbidding.

Stray: Thank you!
I believe Aggles bought her the hat.
I was afraid someone would ask me that last question.

Kate: Good to see you again! Thank you. Good luck with your parents.

Marie: I died laughing when I read your comment. I'll have to tell Mom; but by the time I tell her she will have forgotten that she asked.

Namo: Gosh, Girl. You've been going through this for a long time.

Sally: Yeah, I dragged myself out of bed and to the computer and googled Mojave Desert for Mom ... and I was shocked to find it right next to you.

Mary Ann: I think she looks good in bright blue, too. She thinks it calls too much attention.

Cheryl: You're making me giggle.

Did Marie buy your mom's car? btw, did you sell your mom's house (I forgot).

Yes, Marie bought Mom's car. (She's also the daughter of Our Franklin!)

Yes, we sold Mom's house.

The picture is great ... it must be because of your mom's smile.

*If it's 6:32AM at your place, what time was it at your mom's?

'tude: She's 3 hours ahead, so it was 9:32 a.m.
